Upcycled Patchwork Jacket 'Morgenlys' – Made in Denmark

A statement piece rooted in craftsmanship and circular design, perfect for spring and autumn.

This jacket is made at our workshop in Holbæk, Denmark using carefully sourced Danish textiles - combining deadstock denim with discarded tablecloths and work trousers from local laundry houses. Each material has been selected and reworked by hand to give new life to textiles that would otherwise go to waste.

The design features a distinctive triangular patchwork across the front and back, creating a bold, graphic expression while highlighting the unique origin of each fabric panel.

The jacket is lightly padded, giving it structure, warmth, and a sculptural silhouette that holds its shape beautifully. Thoughtful details include front clip buttons, two spacious front pockets, and an inner hook for easy hanging. The collar can be worn up or folded down, while the sleeves can be adjusted to suit your fit and styling.

Designed as a relaxed, one-size fit, the jacket offers versatility across sizes.

What is upcycling?

Upcycling means that we reuse the parts of the discarded garments that are still in good condition, instead of mechanically or chemically recycling them into new yarn. We manually sort through each item by hand to find the reusable pieces we can upcycle into items such as washcloths, dishcloths, tea towels, cushion covers, foot stools and toiletry bags, amongst other things.

We cut out what is reusable and sew it back together into new home textiles. This is the most environmentally friendly way to handle the waste because very little energy and water is required, in comparison with a recycled product, where the material has to be broken down and often mixed with polyester in order to bind the shorter fibres.

The desire to save as much waste textiles as possible from being burnt up into smoke was how the idea for Amolia came about, so sustainability has been at the heart of what we do from day one. Read more about all the ways we try to be as sustainable as we possibly can.
